Aqalpedia.org provides a set of tools to help people explore and use Ken Wilber's AQAL (All Quadrants, All Levels) model. Aqalpedia's tools are meant for people who already have a basic understanding of AQAL. To learn the basics we suggest the book Integral Spirituality by Ken Wilber or the Sounds True audio CD set Kosmic Consciousness.

Certain words and phrases are commonly used by people speaking from (or to) certain levels. Written language can be analyzed to find what levels, quadrants, zone, state and spheres are being spoken from, or spoken about. Aqalpedia has created the following tools based on a database of phrases associated with each level, quadrant, zone, state and sphere.

  1. AQAL Browser Internet Explorer plug-in
Analyze websites as you browse the Internet and shows word counts for AQAL phrases found. Anlayze levels, quadrants, zones, states and/or spheres for every page.

  2. Interactive Phrase Database
View all phrases associated with an AQAL level, quadrant, zone, state or sphere.

  3. AQAL Quiz
Test your AQAL knowledge by matching AQAL levels with associated phrases.

Aqalpedia's phrases associated with AQAL levels are mostly phrases that would be said from the level and not about the level. For instance "stock broker" has an Orange connotation and is associated with Orange, whereas "subtle reductionism" might refer to something done at Orange but is not something that would signify dialog occuring at an Orange level.

Aqalpedia's analysis is different from a sentence completion test, such Susanne Cook-Greuter's. As opposed to comprehensively determining the level (center of gravity) of the speaker, Aqalpedia is looking at the connotations of the words spoken. For instance the phrase "save the planet" has a Green connotation, even if the center of gravity of the speaker is not Green.

Aqalpedia.org is in a very early stage of development and has not yet received extensive testing or verification. As time progresses the database should become more accurate and comprehensive. To improve accuracy and remove ambigious phrases many phrases have been verified with Google, by reviewing pages Google ranks highly for that phrase, and the uses of that phrase within each page.

Use the AQAL Browser and Aqalpedia database to supplement your abilities to understand AQAL associations while developing your own skills at AQAL analysis.

Initial testing of the AQAL Browser has been promising. Aqalpedia's analysis of many web pages matches human analysis. Some web pages do not contain strong level associations. Pages with many associations from a variety levels of may be written from 2nd-tier, by someone (or a group of people) capable of understanding and expressing topics through a variety of levels.

Aqalpedia is always looking for people to help suggest phrases, especially for Quadrants, Zones, States and Spheres, which have far less thorough word lists than Levels.

Please send any suggested additions or removals of AQAL phrase associations, along with a justification, to info@aqalpedia.org.
